How much does it cost to get adjusted?
Everyone is different, and the Doctors needs to meet with you to be sure they can even help your specific case. No services will be rendered before discussing the fees and making sure you understand what will be involved. Initial visit fees for adjustments including x-rays (if the doctors feel the x-rays are appropriate) can run anywhere from $30 up to $170 for a first visit. Future visits can be in the range of $40 to $50, depending on the treatment and therapy required.
How long will it take?
Your initial visit will probably take up to an hour, as the Doctor will take a complete history, perform a thorough exam and evaluation of your case and possibly need to take x-rays to make sure they understand what you need to feel better. Future visits should only take 15 minutes or so.

What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is based on the premise that good health and mobility rely on a normally functioning nervous system and a healthy spine. It is the science of locating nerve interference (called a subluxation ) and adjusting the vertebrae to remove that interference. The goal of chiropractic is to bring you optimal health. You can experience total health by keeping your spine aligned through specific spinal adjustments that Doctors of Chiropractic are uniquely qualified to administer. Chiropractic care is a natural method of health care that has helped patients just like you for over 100 years.

How can Chiropractic help me?
Chiropractic helps your muscles, joints and nerves function the way they were intended, so your body can heal itself – naturally – from illness and injury. Chiropractic can relieve your pain, restore joint movement, reduce susceptibility to injury, and slow down or prevent degenerative diseases, such as arthritis and disc disease.

Can I tell if I have a subluxation without consulting a Chiropractor?
Not always. A subluxation is like a dental cavity – you may have it for a long time before the symptoms appear. That’s why periodic spinal checkups are so important. Although it may be possible to know you have a subluxation, it is rarely possible to be sure you don’t. An occasional spinal checkup is always a good idea.

Are patients really satisfied with Chiropractic care?
Absolutely! The Gallop Organization found that 9 out of 10 patients find chiropractic care effective.

Why do I need Chiropractic care when I'm not in pain?
Pain is often the last symptom to surface when you have a spinal health problem. Doctors of Chiropractic are trained to detect early signs of degeneration, long before any symptoms occur. That’s why you need chiropractic care even when you’re not in pain. We can help detect areas of your spine that are out of alignment. Then, we can correct these “problem” areas before they lead to greater dysfunction and pain

What do Chiropractors "treat"?
Chiropractors don’t “treat” any specific disease or condition. We focus on identifying and correcting the “source” of your problem, rather than just treating your symptoms. As a result, chiropractic care helps the body heal itself from a wide range of conditions. That’s why you can enjoy long-term relief from sciatica, neck pain, back pain, arthritis, headaches, and much more.

Is Chiropractic safe?
Chiropractic is among the safest of the healing arts. Chiropractic care from this office is VERY SAFE. That’s because it’s being delivered by a licensed practitioner, and risk factors are identified in patients before any type of care is administered. Research shows that patient risk is considerably lower for chiropractic care when compared to medical care, due to the risks associated with drugs and surgery. Positive proof of its safety record is the fact that medical doctors’ malpractice insurance premiums are , on the average, ten to fourteen times higher than those for chiropractors.

Does Chiropractic really work?
Yes! Oregon, California and Florida State Worker’s Compensation Reports showed that back injuries improved in half the time with chiropractic care.
Since the U.S. Government-sponsored guidelines for low-back pain were published in December 1994, the entire nation has reported astonishing results.

Are Chiropractic adjustments painful?
Most patients report that even when they come into our office suffering with severe pain, spinal adjustments are not painful. Many patients report that they can “feel” the pressure lifting from their spine following an adjustment and often experience immediate relief from pain. Some patients even tell us that they feel a sense a total relaxation after an adjustment. There are also adjustments that take advantage of LOW-FORCE techniques and procedures that are often so gentle and accurate in their application that the patient hardly knows the adjustment has occurred.

What causes the sound of an adjustment?
Actually, not all adjusting techniques produce the sound associated with “popping knuckles”. Some create no sound at all, some a little. Many techniques, however, do create the sound of spinal "release". What causes it? The mystery may have been solved by a British research team that took x-ray movies of people popping their knuckles. The sound appeared to be caused by gas rushing to fill the partial vacuum created when the joints were slightly separated.

Is it bad to "crack" your neck or back a lot?
The desire to pop the neck or back is caused by tension from a jammed or fixated vertebrae, which causes another part of the spine to compensate by moving too much and “popping” a lot. The jammed part should be adjusted by a chiropractor so that the rest of the spinal column will balance and stop being so movable and noisy.

Is Chiropractic care addictive?
No, but it is possible to get used to feeling more balanced, less stressed and more energetic as a result of chiropractic care. You may become more sensitive to your body and know when you’ve “lost” your adjustment.

Can I only go once?
Of course. Once is better than never. But chiropractic care can help in so many ways. Why not ask your chiropractor about your personal spinal care needs.

Will I have to go to a Chiropractor forever?
How long would you like to stay healthy, active and energetic? Depending on your answer, you may benefit from periodic chiropractic visits to keep your spine in top condition for many years to come. The frequency of visits is highly individualized. Once your spine is stabilized, a spinal checkup anywhere from once a month to once a year can optimize your good health naturally. Atlas Orthogonal (AO) precision adjusting typically requires fewer adjustments than traditional chiropractic techniques. Just as you must continue to brush, floss and keep regular dental visits to keep your teeth for a lifetime, taking care of your spine is also a lifelong process of eating right, exercise, proper rest and regular chiropractic care. Since subluxations are often painless, it’s a good idea to get your spine checked periodically, as you get your teeth checked periodically for “painless” cavities.

At what age should Chiropractic care begin?
Newborns have received spinal adjustments especially after difficult or traumatic births. But starting at any age is the right thing to do for your own health’s sake, rather than ignoring the literal and figurative backbone of your body.

Do Chiropractors see any value in drugs or surgery?
As your Doctor of Chiropractic, I see value in anything that enhances your well-being and comfort without jeopardizing your health. While chiropractic care offers an effective, drug-free, non-surgical alternative, chiropractors also recognize that no single health care profession can universally attend to every health care need. We work as a team with other health care professionals and will make any referrals in the best interests of you, the patient.

Can a person who had back surgery see a Chiropractor?
Yes. It’s an unfortunate fact that up to half of those who had spinal surgery discover a return of their original symptoms months or years later. They then face the prospect of additional surgery. This too common occurrence is known as “Failed Back Surgery Syndrome”. Chiropractic may help prevent repeated operations.

Can a person with a broken back or neck see a Chiropractor?
After the break heals, yes. In fact, a broken bone forms a callus or bone scar when it heals that is stronger that the rest of the bone. This should dispel any concerns about the safety of an adjustment. People who have had broken bones need chiropractic checkups because accidents usually cause spinal subluxations.

Is Chiropractic recognized by the medical and scientific communities?
Most definitely! In fact, the Council of International Organization of Medical Sciences recently stated, "The relationship between the medical and chiropractic professions worldwide has become increasingly one of mutual respect and collaboration". In Canada, Chiropractic is recognized as just part of the normal National Health Program funded and supported by the Canadian Government. Doctors of Chiropractic are well educated practitioners who are required to complete four years of intense training consisting of almost 4500 hours of courses at a professional chiropractic college following two to four years of prerequisite study to earn their Doctor of Chiropractic degree. All fifty states recognize the practice of chiropractic and require that Doctors of Chiropractic are board-qualified, licensed and regulated according to stringent criteria. Chiropractic care is quality health care for the entire family.

Can I go to a Chiropractor if I'm under medical care?
Yes. Having your subluxations corrected is important, no matter what other type of health care you are receiving. Today many Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) and medical doctors (MDs) are working together in clinics and on joint research projects. MDs are quite likely to have patients who are under chiropractic care; in fact, many medical doctors see a doctor of chiropractic themselves.
